Discuss how community builds Islamic literacy through poetry, particularly when learning about the life of the Prophet ﷺ
RegisterIn Part 1 of our Milestones series, we examined one of the first major milestones for someone becoming Muslim: finding community to learn with. In this session, we will turn our gaze to a great mandate from our Creator: to know the Prophet ﷺ.
We will discuss how community builds Islamic literacy through poetry, particularly when learning about the life of the Prophet ﷺ—a practice that began with his sublime companions. The Pedagogy of Poetry & Community refers to Islam’s holistic way of teaching and learning through understanding poetry together.
We are bringing in Ayman Muhammad to facilitate, a creative who understands different arts. He was part of the acclaimed UK Hip Hop duo 'The Planets,' and more recently with his wife, Umm al-Khair, he co-produced Breezes of the Elect, a new collection of classical Arabic poems (in Arabic & English) on the life of the Prophet ﷺ.
Parents! We've got you covered with free childcare for children aged 4-11. (Younger children remain with parents' responsibility.) Food and refreshments will also be provided for all attendees.
